Reiki Treatment Sessions for Caregivers

Reiki for Caregivers

Last night I dreamed that a kind man who was highly spiritual gave me a care package: a basket of food. Then he was on his way to other things, perhaps to give baskets to other recipients. In the basket was a freshly baked loaf of bread, different kinds of cheeses, and lots more. All sustenance. I felt great gratitude for this man and the gift he brought, especially since I had been going through a stressful time. The following morning I thought about him and his role as a caregiver. He reminded me that Reiki treatment sessions for caregivers are indeed important. Since I’m a caregiver, I needed to schedule a Reiki treatment session for myself!

Caregivers and Reiki BenefitsReiki Northern VA Sessions

Doctors, nurses, Moms and Dads, and energy practitioners: all are caretakers. In fact every one of us are caretakers in one way or another, and for those of you who are caring for a loved one, it can be challenging to remember to care for yourself. But it’s vital. Especially if you’re involved in long-term intense caregiving.

You may begin to feel that you get lost in the process of the medical ups and downs of your loved one’s path. That’s where receiving a Reiki treatment session can help to replenish your overall energy level for more stamina so that you can continue to give to your loved one and walk beside them.

Making Time for Reiki Sessions as a Caregiver

Taking time out, and choosing the appropriate time is up to you. At least a half-hour is suggested. An hour is even better because you want to be able to deeply relax.

Taking regular time for yourself to receive Reiki is important to create and maintain a foundation of feeling centered, whole, and rejuvenated with more clarity.

  • Allows for a quiet time to regroup and relax your mind and body
  • Helps to recharge your energy
  • Provides a time to more fully feel the connection between yourself and loving Higher Power
  • Grounds and stabilizes your energy physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually

After a Reiki session, you can come to your loved one with a stronger foundation of feeling refreshed and ready to continue caring for them.

Sometimes people say “There isn’t enough time to take care of myself. I’m so busy taking care of my friend/spouse/family member.”

What if We Don’t Take Care of Ourselves?

When we don’t take care of ourselves, it can impact us in the following ways:

  • We have less strength to help our loved ones
  • It’s harder to make decisions for our loved ones or for ourselves
  • We tend to run on empty and we feel drained which can affect our moods, which in turn can affect the moods of our loved ones
  • We may feel so tired that it begins to affect our bodies
  • It begins to be more challenging to stay truly positive with an uplifted outlook

Reiki Sessions for CaregiversReiki NoVA Reiki Treatments

When you receive a Reiki treatment session, either in-person, or distance/remotely, it can help strengthen you on all levels. You can sit in a comfortable chair or lie down on a Reiki table or even on a bed or couch. You can say a positive affirmation or prayer for yourself at the beginning of the session to place your mind in a positive space for the session. You might fall asleep and that’s fine because when you’re deeply relaxed, the immune system has a chance to function at its highest level. (If you think you might fall asleep, you might want to set a gentle alarm so you’ll wake up in time.)

I’ve found that Reiki sessions for caregivers have proven to be restorative for their body, mind, and soul. After a session, they feel ready to face the tasks ahead.

Distance Reiki Sessions

Distance/remote Reiki treatment sessions are being felt just as profoundly, if not more so, than in-person sessions. That’s because the energy comes from loving Higher Power, through the Practitioner, to the recipient. The recipient always receives what they need for their highest good.

I hope that if you’re ever in a situation where you’re caring for a loved one, you’ll reach out to a Reiki practitioner so that a Reiki treatment session can help you to re-center and replenish your mind and your body. Because you’re worth it. You’ll also be able to bring a “better you” to your loved one, which may just help to lift them too.

Many of us are caregivers for others. On a very fundamental level, each of us are also caregivers for ourselves.

Reiki for Calming During Changes

Reiki for Keeping Calm During Changes

Reiki is a wonderful modality for calming during changes in life that can cause us stress. The main purpose of Reiki is for deep relaxation. When we’re in times of transition, that’s when we need Reiki the most. Giving ourselves Reiki and letting that energy from loving Higher Power flow through us can be very palpable: felt as a strong heat or a sense of well-being and connection to Source. This can bring about immediate calm and inner peace. With calm and inner peace, focus and clarity come easier. If we’re too stressed to give Reiki to ourselves, receiving a Reiki session from a practitioner is equally beneficial and quieting for the mind.

Many times when we’re uprooted or feeling unbalanced because of changes in our life, we forget to give self-Reiki to help calm ourselves down and get clarity on the situation. Just when we need it the most, we put off giving Reiki to ourselves. Maybe we think we can handle the situation without stopping to give self-Reiki for ten minutes or so. Maybe we feel there isn’t time. Or perhaps we’re unaware that we even need Reiki for calming.

There have been times in my life where I’ve definitely needed Reiki for calming during changes: it started with little things (“no big deal, I can handle these”) and then bigger things (“wow, no time to take a break now”) until a big tumbleweed of stressors had formed (uh oh, I’m out of balance!”). During these times of letting stressful changes pile up without taking a break to “plug into” the Reiki, I felt drained and off-center and quite frazzled.  Feeling a sense of upheaval in any aspect of our lives can be all-encompassing for our minds; and many times we get caught up in the stressful situation at hand. I get it. It happens to all of us.

It’s human nature to think we can handle stressful situations on our own without stopping for a “Reiki break”. But things are so much easier and smoother when we pause and give Reiki to ourselves first.

Five Signs that We Need Reiki for Calming

So how can we recognize when we are feeling stressed? How do we know when we could use some self-Reiki?

  • Feeling of fear, anxiety, dread
  • Thoughts are scattered or racing one after the other
  • Not feeling secure and grounded
  • Experiencing brain fog or overwhelm
  • Nervous system is on overdrive, heart is racing, body is tense

So when we’re feeling any of these five signs, we can become aware that it’s time for a calming Reiki session.

  • We can ask ourselves “If not now; when?”
  • Remind ourselves that we’re worthy of taking some downtime to nurture ourselves
  • Remember that solutions and next steps forward are easier to see when we’re relaxed and calm

To make it easier to incorporate Reiki into our life, we can set a regular time during the day or in the evening before sleep to give self-Reiki. We can also schedule a Reiki session at least once a month with a practitioner if we feel we’d like to receive Reiki regularly from someone. Many people find doing both of these things keeps them balanced throughout the daily stressors of life.

For Calming, Self-Reiki Sessions Can Be Short

We can start with ten or fifteen minutes. People often give themselves a short Reiki session upon waking each morning and before sleep each night. Having regular/daily Reiki sessions is what helps to keep calm and relaxed from day to day no matter what changes come our way. That way we’re meeting situations from a centered place of more clarity and inner calm.

It’s so much easier to navigate our way through life’s changes, whether big or small, when we first pause and experience the relaxation of Reiki. Then we can find which steps to take to move us forward where we’re meant to be.

Whenever I receive Reiki for calming during changes in life, I also end up experiencing much more clarity and I’m able to find my next steps forward. I wish the same Reiki benefits for you!

Reiki Virtual Classes and Distance Sessions

In these changing times, keeping yourself balanced and centered is so important. Many students come to the Reiki virtual classes to learn how to give Reiki to themselves first, and then they can give Reiki to their loved ones as well as to friends. In that way, they can help others to find their balance and get centered and calm again.

This goes a long way to helping yourself and loved ones navigate the world we’re living in today with all of the upcoming changes socially and economically. When you’re giving self-Reiki, it allows you to be deeply relaxed, which helps to boost the whole immune system.

Being the steady anchor in a sea of changes is good not only for yourself but for others because the energy state you embody affects all others you may come across. So if you’re energy is calm and centered, it echoes out all around you wherever you go, and touches others for the good. When you hold your center for yourself, you never know who else you may be positively affecting.

Distance Reiki Sessions

Even when students go through the Reiki virtual classes, many still love to receive the distance Reiki treatment sessions from time to time from a trusted practitioner. The practitioner can send Reiki via distance and it works just as effectively as in-person Reiki since Reiki is directed by Higher Power/the Universe which is all-knowing.

It can be comforting to know someone you trust is sending you the Reiki, while all you need to do is lie down and relax and even take a nap. You can say a positive affirmation at the beginning of the distance Reiki treatment session to place your mind in a positive space. And you can call upon Higher Power, whatever your name is for that Higher Power, to help you during the session. Some clients call upon angels or guides as well.

Distance Reiki sessions are your down-time to receive positive, loving energy for your greatest good. And sometimes, it’s the best way to go, if you’re too tired to give the Reiki to yourself. You can play soft relaxing music during your session or just relax in the silence.

Virtual Reiki for Comfort in Trying Times

I receive a lot of emails from students and clients who are worn out from the challenging times we have been in. I always remind them to keep doing the self-Reiki daily or before sleep as a foundation for comfort and to help balance their energy for well-being. Reiki helps to balance energy at the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.

Reiki is great for relaxation and it promotes inner peace. Even placing your hands in the most basic positions along the chakras can be great comfort if you feel like you’re starting to feel overwhelmed and your nerves are frazzled.

Key Chakras for Reiki Hand Positions

It’s beneficial to place your hands along the following chakras:

  • solar plexus chakra (to help boost self-confidence and self-empowerment)
  • crown or brow chakra (for calming the whole nervous system)
  • heart chakra (to promote unconditional love for self)

You don’t have to have a long session if you just want to work with a few areas that you feel will help you. Those areas can be different for each session. Placing your palms on your knees can be helpful for grounding and feeling secure.

Some folks find they like to do self-Reiki in the morning after they wake up and it provides a comforting way to wake up and start the day. If you’re anxious about something you’re going to be doing that day, self-Reiki in the morning can help to calm you.

Self-Reiki before sleep usually helps to promote positive, uplifting dreams and a good night’s deep rest. You may find you fall asleep while you’re giving self-Reiki and that’s perfectly fine. You might wake up feeling not only refreshed in the morning, but unconditionally loved by the Universe. And there’s no better feeling than that! Especially in these changing times.

Winter is on its way yet spring will surely follow with the changes it brings. As the seasons change, Reiki virtual classes and distance sessions can bring comfort and balance so that you can be centered and calm through it all.

Online Virtual Reiki Classes via ZOOM

Online ZOOM Reiki Classes

We’re offering online virtual Reiki classes via ZOOM so you can send Reiki to help heal and support yourself, and help all those around the world affected by the current situation. Online Virtual Reiki classes are fun and easy. If you’re feeling like you want to do something to help the world situation, but you don’t know what to do, you can send Reiki to: scientists looking for treatments and vaccines, health care workers, patients in hospitals, people who are working to get food to the stores, and loved ones of those who are sick. Because many jobs have been affected, I’m now offering temporary Reduced Rates for my Reiki classes. (See my classes page above.)

  • Reiki concepts can easily be taught online without students having to travel.
  • The environment feels intimate with the ability to see each other on screen.
  • Classes can be kept small to allow for the teacher to listen to questions and respond one-to-one with students.
  • Online virtual Reiki attunements are just as effective as in-person attunements.

Online Virtual Reiki Attunements

Online Reiki Classes via ZOOMHere’s a little bit about Reiki attunements. A Reiki attunement is a transfer of energy from Higher Power through the Reiki Master Teacher to the student. This allows the student to work with Reiki at a specific degree or level, such as Reiki First Degree, or Reiki Second Degree, etc.

Whether it be virtual, distance, or in-person, Reiki is directed by Loving Source/Higher Power. For instance, we know that distance Reiki treatment sessions work just as well as in-person Reiki treatment sessions. (See my earlier blog post on Distance Reiki) So it’s the same concept with Reiki attunements. Once the Reiki Master Teacher calls upon Higher Power and sets the intention for the attunement, then it’s just as effective as an in-person attunement. Why? As a Reiki Master Teacher we’re setting our intention in alignment with Higher Power; and intention is the “motor” of Reiki. Higher Power knows what we’re intending to do and we always are supported by Higher Power which is all-loving, and all good.

Some students say they can actually feel the online virtual attunement more deeply than in-person. Just like some clients say they feel the distance Reiki treatment sessions more profoundly than in-person sessions. Each individual may feel it differently.

My Guidance to Teach Online ZOOM Reiki Classes

Although I give myself Reiki daily, I also receive distance Reiki healing regularly from a practitioner/healer. During one of my sessions, I had an unusual experience. I was surprised to have a “visit” from Dr. Usui.
(Dr. Usui is the Reiki Master who discovered the Usui system of Reiki which students learn in our classes.) My practitioner and I both saw Dr. Usui, and she told me that Dr. Usui was giving me a special blessing for continuing to give Reiki classes online “as an adaptation to the shifting times”. During his blessing, I felt my hands get hot and tingly and I felt great gratitude in my heart. It was an unexpected experience. I had been wondering if I should offer classes online or just wait to give in-person classes after the world situation has improved. But after this experience and a personal blessing from Dr. Usui, I felt I really authentically needed to branch out and begin giving virtual Reiki classes.

I knew that now was the time to continue to help students learn this modality of support and healing to help everyone affected by the current world issues. Everyone who knows me, knows that I don’t go into important endeavors without being “called” to do them. After this experience it was no longer a question of should I? I was all in. And I was excited about it! I’m so glad I decided to honor the blessing I’d been given, because these online virtual classes have been so fun and my students have been so grateful!

Online Virtual Classes and Self-Reiki

During our online virtual Reiki First Degree Class, one of the concepts we learn and experience is to spend time giving self-Reiki. Self-Reiki is one of the most popular reasons students sign up for a Reiki class. Many of us already know that we need to help ourselves get balanced and centered, before we can really effectively reach out to others to help them heal and become balanced.

If you’re feeling drawn to participate in helping the world situation now, or if you’re looking for a way to help yourself, learning how to send Reiki via virtual online classes can be a wonderful way to do that.

So, what is the one thing we miss with online virtual classes? Hugs! We “Reiki people” love hugs. So, for now we give virtual hugs. It’s not the same, I know. But just like with sending Reiki, it works with our intention. And in our hearts we can feel it.
