Distance Reiki to Help Others

June 7, 2017 by Yvonne

Distance Reiki

Sometimes it’s a good idea to send distance Reiki to help others, rather than give in-person Reiki. The following situation is just one example of this.

Distance Reiki from Any Place               Reiki Northern VA Distance Reiki

I was in an apothecary when I noticed an older woman talking to an employee. Immediately I saw the energy around the woman’s right leg was not flowing from her thigh to the calf. The energy flow cut off at the top of her knee. It was as if her lower leg didn’t exist energetically. I thought it amazing how she could even be up and around with her energy like that. My heart went out to her, knowing something wasn’t right.

I made a mental note to offer distance Reiki when I got home. Then I took my newly purchased item and headed for the door.

Suddenly, I heard a crashing sound behind me. I turned to find that same woman on the ground. She’d fallen and all of the vitamins on the shelves near her had tumbled to the floor. She tried to get up but her right leg wouldn’t work. A customer rushed to help her and she was soon back on her feet.

Then I turned to go once more when I heard another crashing sound. She had fallen again. More vitamin bottles spilled down in a cascade at her feet. People huddled around her. Clearly, her right knee kept giving out, though she repeatedly tried to stand. I heard her say, “I’m all right. I’m all right,” though she couldn’t stand. The crowd pressed in around her.

Since there were already way too many “helpers” around her, I made the decision to leave. Once back in my car, I pulled out of my parking spot and quickly found a parking spot in a quiet area near a tree. I was a bit shaken by what I’d just seen; and I wanted to help this woman. I decided this might be a good time for some distance Reiki.

I went through the required permissions and preparation process and began to hold the distance Reiki space for her highest good, if she was open to receiving it. Afterwards, I waited a few moments. Nobody came out of the store.

Although a part of me wanted to go back in and see how she was doing, I trusted the Reiki would go to where it needed to go for the highest good, if it was the right thing for her. Then, I drove away, thankful for the opportunity to be in “the Reiki moment”.

When to Send Distance Reiki                         Reiki Northern Virginia Distance Reiki

Distance Reiki is like a bridge connecting the Practitioner to the recipient, no matter how far apart they are from each other.

Distance Reiki can be sent to the recipient as far away as another country. The energy will travel and Higher Power will know where the practitioner is intending for the Reiki to go.

A practitioner always needs to get permission first, either directly from the recipient or from the recipient’s higher self. Practitioners sometimes send Reiki to themselves and just invite the recipient to come and partake of the Reiki if she wants to, for her well-being.

Distance Reiki Can Be Sent To:

  • Friends or family in hospitals or ICU if the practitioner can’t be there in-person
  • Pets who are in a kennel or vet overnight
  • A friend in another state or country
  • A neighbor in their own house, down the street

Those who have received distance Reiki can sometimes feel the energy and the comfort of the Reiki being sent to them. Sometimes there is a sense of simple peace. Still, sometimes, they find things start to go more smoothly in the days following a distance Reiki session.

Distance Reiki for Pets

Many practitioners, including myself, give distance Reiki to pets. I’ve found that the distance sessions are just as effective, if not more so, than in-person sessions. Animals are receptive, in general, to the Reiki and they don’t need to receive it in-person, or hands-on, in order for it to work.

Some pets may want a mix of hands-on and hands-off or distance Reiki. It is up to each unique animal.

Distance Reiki for Deceased Loved Ones

Practitioners can send Reiki to loved ones who have already transitioned to increase their bond and to send “good will”.

This also works for animals who have made their transition because, usually, animals are already so receptive and sensitive to energy in general.

Distance Reiki for Future Events

Reiki can be sent to any planned future event or appointment to help it go well. Practitioners send Reiki before events such as:

  • Business meetings
  • Speaking engagements
  • Doctor’s appointments
  • College mid-terms or finals
  • Business trips
  • Vacations

Distance Reiki can also go to events in the past to help people heal how they feel about a certain event. It might be a traumatic event or an event that left them feeling uncomfortable.

Distance Reiki to Higher Power

Once practitioners have gone through the training and they’ve learned how to give distance Reiki, although there are steps to the process, often they find that distance Reiki can be a very creative process with different ways of giving it.

Some practitioners also send Reiki to Higher Power or the angels and guides they work with, just as a way of saying “Thank you for being there!” So, distance Reiki can act as an “unconditional love note” to the Universe!

Many distance Reiki blessings to you!                                                                         Reiki Northern VA

Reiki and Helping Others

Reiki for the Greater GoodNo. VA Reiki Flowers

It’s amazing how challenging situations can become opportunities to turn things around and once again, lead me to Reiki and helping others.

Reiki and Receiving from Others

My husband and I had just come from a wellness center where I’d given a spiritual development workshop. We stopped off for a bite to eat. During dinner we talked about how everything felt so positive. Even the air itself held a charge of joy that evening. I felt like I was on my path and all things seemed in divine order. How quickly that feeling can change.

After dinner, we walked back to the garage where we had parked our car, only to find the garage door closed and locked, with no way to enter. Perhaps we had parked at a different garage? Maybe the one next door? But no. We were sure we had parked at the garage with the closed door. Suddenly, it began to rain. We walked around in the rain, looking for the magic mystery door. It wasn’t to be found. We ducked into a nearby restaurant to see if anyone working there might know of another garage entrance.

The nice man behind the counter smiled and said, “Only residents of the condo over there can access that garage.” Great. We’d parked in an unauthorized garage with no way to get our car out. Then he added, “The same thing happened last week to someone else. The door’s broken so it lets people in; but doesn’t let them out. Management thought they fixed it last week and they were going to put up a sign. But they haven’t put it up yet. So you have to wait for a car to come through and open it.”

Well, we had an umbrella. We waited. And we waited some more. No cars came to lift the door. Then we began to doubt ourselves. Maybe our car was in the garage next door? We decided to look. So we walked up and down the ramps and levels of the other garage until I began to feel like we were in a M. C. Escher drawing, the one with all the staircases going in different directions. The car wasn’t here. Or maybe it was here but we just missed it somehow.

Finally, we went into the condo lobby, hoping for help at the front desk. The front desk was closed. But, there was a sign that said “Call this number for help”. I figured by this time, we qualified for needing help. So my husband dialed the number while I sat down in the lobby to give myself Reiki and see if I could remember for sure which garage was the one with our car in it.

After a frustrating conversation with the condo management, we were clearly no closer to getting our car out. I went back outside in the rain to walk and to think. Then I saw a woman with a dog walking up to the condo lobby door.

“Ma’am?” I shouted.

She stopped and turned. I told her our predicament. She looked puzzled and wanted to know how we parked our car in the residential garage if we don’t have an access key.

I said, “The door was opened. Turns out this happened to someone else last week. They tried to fix the door but it’s still broken. And there’s no sign.”

She asked us if we were sure that was the garage we’d parked in, since the public garage was right next to it. My husband and I looked at each other and we both shrugged. We were tired. At this point we weren’t one hundred percent sure where we had put the car.

Still, the nice lady with the dog offered to help us. She led us into an elevator. While in the elevator, the woman’s dog looked up at us as if to say, “Did you humans do something silly again?” Then the elevator door opened and we walked down a ramp that led to the residential garage. Once again, we explored the different levels of the garage, looking for the car. We were back in the Escher drawing.

Then my husband pressed the button on his car key fob. A horn sounded. We followed it. There it was. Right next to the closed garage door where we had come in. All we had to do now was approach the door and it would open for us.

I turned to the woman and said, “Thank you so much. Is there any way we can repay you?”

She said, “Yes. Go home and get some sleep.”

That evening, before nodding off, I gave Reiki to the higher self of that woman and her dog, with great gratitude that she took time out to help us. While giving Reiki, I asked that Source let us pay it forward to another person who may need the same kind of help we had just received. Then I fell asleep.

Reiki and Helping OthersReiki No. VA Reiki and Helping Others

The next day, we needed to run an errand in another city. We had to park in a garage. This time we were careful to be sure it was a Public garage. We parked and took our ticket with us like the instructions read on the entrance sign. I made note of what floor we were on before taking the elevator to the street level.

We exited the garage to a bright sunny day. My husband began walking; but I followed slightly behind. An older couple had caught my eye. I thought I’d heard the woman say, “You mean we can’t get back in the garage to get our car?”

I stopped and watched them. They read the instructions on the door. They’d left their ticket in the car and now they were locked out of the garage.

I called for my husband who had stopped just ahead, once he’d noticed I wasn’t with him. He had our garage ticket.

He walked back towards me and I told him about the older couple. We walked up to where they were at the street entrance of the garage.

I said, “The same kind of thing happened to us just last night. We parked here too and we have our ticket. We’ll let you in.” My husband slid the ticket through the slot and the door opened for the couple.

Source had helped us to pay it forward, just as I had asked, while giving Reiki the night before. It felt so good to receive a good deed and then to pass it on.

Five Main Benefits of Reiki

When we send Reiki, we connect with Higher Power or Source/the Universe. This connection can help us to:

  • open our intuition to help ourselves and others
  • know that we aren’t alone
  • get clarity in our daily life
  • move forward on our life purpose
  • have a more positive outlook

All of these benefits help to keep us in the flow with synchronous events that are divinely orchestrated. This quiet time of Reiki with connection to Higher Power, calms the mind. From a calm place, it’s easier to make decisions. It’s also easier to feel more connected to our authentic and intuitive selves. We can have an inner knowing about where to be and what to do on a daily basis. We can be in alignment with what brings us joy.

Reiki and Being Positive

When we give and receive Reiki it helps to lift the vibration of every cell in our bodies. This includes all aspects of us: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It can turn a “down feeling” around by lifting sadness or depression. A situation that has been frustrating (like getting stuck in a parking garage) can become an opportunity to give to others. Reiki helps us to see things from the brighter side.

Now, whenever I think of that parking lot incident, I remember it gave me an opportunity to send Reiki to the woman who helped us, and then to pay it forward. Plus, I got to pet her dog.

May Reiki turn all of your challenging situations into opportunities to help yourself and others.Reiki No.VA Reiki path

Reiki for Relaxing Holidays

Have a Relaxing Reiki Winter

Feeling stressed out this winter? Many people decide to take a relaxing “Reiki rest” to help them rejuvenate and find their calm center once again.

Holiday Gift: A Reiki SessionNorthern VA Reiki Relaxing Holiday

Two years ago, a snowstorm had been predicted. Everyone was flooding the stores for shovels and bags of “snow-melt”. Store parking lots were jammed, and car horns were honking. Impatience filled the air.

Like many others, I had begun to get caught up in the stress of not just the holidays, but end-of-year budgets with the added prospect of possibly needing a new car. The house needed some attention as well. And holiday time was upon us, yet I hadn’t even emailed or snail-mailed one Greeting card. I was starting to feel like a Grinch. What happened to that old childhood spirit of winter snow and fun? Catching snowflakes on my tongue? Making snow angels? Giving and receiving gifts? My joy was missing.

So, I turned to the one thing that re-balances all of me: mind, body, and soul. Reiki!

In a quiet room with the sound of a trickling water fountain, I lay on the Reiki table and felt the warm Reiki gently wafting into my energy fields and physical body. All that was important, was in the here and now. Just the state of “being” was enough. And not only was it enough; for me, it was vital for sustaining my inner strength and inner balance.

As the session progressed, I began to see the familiar colors of my own chakras streaming outward; something I realized I hadn’t seen for a couple of weeks. My stomach began to release tension, and other areas of my body relaxed where I’d been holding tension that I didn’t even consciously realize at the time.

The wind picked up just outside the window and I knew the temperature was falling, as predicted. Yet, I was ensconced in the warm sheltering of the Reiki itself. I drifted in and out of sleep. I felt safe and unconditionally loved by Source.

By the end of the session, I felt renewed and ready to return to “the world” again. Yet, I would not have to return to the state of being stressed. I had “recharged my battery”, or more precisely, re-ignited my inner light. It was just the winter gift I had needed.

As I stepped outside into the first falling snowflakes, for the first time that year, I felt the childhood excitement of a “winter wonderland” that would soon be upon us. Maybe this year I would even make snow angels.

Reiki Treatment Sessions

Winter is the time of year when many people schedule a Reiki treatment session to renew their energy and restore their inner calm. The trees let go of their leaves and a more barren landscape appears along with cold air. Friends and family take the chill off by receiving Reiki, which often feels like a warm blanket enfolding them. Many times, as they relax on the Reiki table, they fall asleep. Falling asleep while receiving Reiki, is good because it lets the immune system function at a deep level.

Relaxation is restorative and very natural. Sometimes we forget about this “natural” state of being and we forget to relax, as if relaxing was a chore. Relaxing is a gift we can give to ourselves, even in the midst of holiday stress. And one way of doing this is through Reiki.

So, as the trees’ canopies become sparse, and the outside temperature drops, allow yourself to enjoy the warmth of the season with some holiday Reiki; and Reiki all winter long!

Reiki Shares for Holiday PartiesRelaxing Reiki Share Northern VA

Some Reiki practitioners host a “Reiki Share” for their holiday party. The guests bring food, and just like a regular party, everyone eats and chats for a while. Then they all lie down on Reiki tables. If there are more people than tables, two or three practitioners can give Reiki to one recipient on the table.

Not only does healing and balancing take place during Reiki shares, but lots of learning can take place too! And of course, lots of relaxation, as the layers of stress dissolve under the gentle flow of Reiki. This is a gentle gathering of gratitude and giving.

Tips for a Great Reiki Share

  • Know who is coming so you can plan for how many tables you’ll need. (guests can bring tables)
  • Have a table or counter for food that guests will bring. (Give them some ideas of what to bring before the share.)
  • Keep an eye on the time so that once the eating part of the party is over, there is plenty of time left for everyone to receive Reiki.
  • Have a gentle alarm on hand to sound at intervals so that each person at the share has an opportunity to receive Reiki.
  • Put a sign on the door saying “Please do not disturb” so that once the Reiki part of the share begins, the doorbell won’t be ringing.
  • The host can prepare the room for everyone before the Reiki begins. Each practitioner can prepare their own body and set their intention.
  • Play relaxing music.

After the Reiki Share, everyone goes home much more relaxed and renewed!

Ten More Ways to Keep Calm

  • Choose which parties or party invitation you want to accept.
  • Bake Reiki cookies with some friends (give Reiki to the cookies before baking them).
  • Give Self-Reiki every day or every night before sleep.
  • Walk in nature or a relaxing place. As you walk, place your hand over the heart chakra or solar plexus, for grounding and feeling calm.
  • Surround yourself with calm pictures, or items from nature.
  • Have a “Reiki Retreat” room in your house or apartment where you go to relax.
  • Choose to spend time with someone instead of buying gifts for each other. Give them some Reiki as a gift. Giving Reiki can relax the “giver” too.
  • Spend time doing a creative hobby: i.e. meditative coloring books.
  • Listen to relaxing music.
  • Prepare food ahead of time and as you do, give it some Reiki with the intention that the nutrients fully support everyone who partakes of the food.

We have a choice as to how much or how little we want to do this season.

So, instead of winding up and spinning out into a vortex of stress, we can intentionally wind down and let Reiki help us enjoy an easy-paced winter.

Choose your pace with Reiki; choose your path to relaxation this season and all year through!

Happy Reiki Holidays and Many Reiki blessings,Reiki Northern VA Relaxing

Reiki for the Whales

October 3, 2016 by Yvonne

Reiki for Open Ocean Whales

Giving Reiki to the Whales in the open seas, among the freighters and other boats, can be beneficial for whales as well as for the relationship between sea life and humans.

Reiki for the Humpback WhaleNorthern Virginia Reiki Humpback

He lifts his body straight up into the air and lands in a slam-splash before submerging, leaving a brief crater on the surface of the ocean. Then again, the humpback propels himself skyward, and down again. Over and over he breaches, as if he knows we want to see more. Then he rolls onto his back, exposing his underside, before rolling onto his stomach again.

Out here at sea, our boat rocks with the wind, the motor silenced so that we may watch the beauty and grace of the humpbacks, without disturbing them. We learn that this particular humpback often can be found here, and while it’s wonderful for us, it’s not without risk to the humpback, since this is a shipping channel.

When I hear this news, immediately, I begin beaming Reiki to the humpback, holding out my hands to him. He stays for a while and I try to savor every moment of his movements, treasuring the experience. Then, the humpback dives down a final time.

Silently, I thank the humpback for his visit. I continue to give Reiki as he swims away. Then I give Reiki to the whole shipping channel for the safety of all the whales, among the boats that need to pass through the channel. I give Reiki with my eyes and hands, emitting a soft mist of energy that comes from Source. I bathe the whole area in loving light for the well-being of the whales. And I ask for the Reiki to expand, for the well-being of the dolphins, stingrays, porpoises, and all other sea life.

Just as I set my intention to include all of sea life in the Reiki, a bright yellow crab appears on the surface of the water, then slips past our boat. The little crab is given some Reiki too.

After our afternoon of watching whales and giving Reiki to them and the other sea life, we turn back and head for shore. Then, as if to say “thank you”, two dolphins arc out of the water and into the air, right beside our boat. They stay with us for a while, then dive under one last time as I give them a “Reiki-wave goodbye”.

Reiki for a Greater Future

Since that memorable day, often, I spend time sending distance Reiki with the intention of developing a more conscious relationship between people and whales.

We can give distance Reiki to Whales by:

  • Visualizing the whales in the sea as healthy and whole
  • Imagining a beautiful white, healing light around oceans
  • Allowing the healing light to include all sea creatures
  • Giving Reiki, intending for all people and whales to respectfully co-exist

Reiki for Dolphins in SanctuariesNorthern Virginia Reiki Dolphins

Even in sanctuaries, where dolphins may be in a semi-captive environment, we can send Reiki. In certain semi-captive environments, the dolphins are free to swim into the open ocean, if they want, and stay there. They can always come back for some playful human interaction by making trips back and forth from the open ocean to the sanctuary. These dolphins often act as diplomats where people can see them up close.

We all can give Reiki toward a common understanding that the lives of whales and dolphins are important, and that perhaps we can find a life-affirming way to co-exist. Then, maybe one day, there won’t even be a need for animal diplomats. We all will already understand and respect animals.

Until then, we can give the whales, and all animals, the Reiki, which comes from a divine Source that is both patient and understanding.
